Aloe Vera Juice: Gives soap more soothing and hard properties; use in place of distilled water

 

Beeswax: Locks in moisture, fosters cells, protects skin, antibacterial, contains Vitamin A, aids in natural healing and cell development without clogging pores, water repelling properties makes it useful in  sunscreens; highly versatile ingredient heavily used to make homemade soap bars harder and longer lasting, in lotion bar recipes to add hardness and emollient properties, used in lip balm recipes, lotion recipes

 

Cranberry Seed: Used as an abrasive and decoration, ground or whole; 1-2 t per pound of soap

 

Oatmeal: Gently exfoliates, soothes dry skin

 

Honey: Hydrates and soothes, natural skin softener, increases soaps lather, a few drops of Citronella will enhance fragrance, add warmed honey just before essential oils; one of the oldest skincare ingredients on earth

 

Raspberry Seeds: Used as an abrasive and decoration, ground or whole; 1-2 t per pound of soap

 

Salt: Helps harden soap, exfoliates

 

Sugar: Increases suds, exfoliates

 

Zinc Oxide: The best broad spectrum UVA and UVB reflector approved for use as a sunscreen by the Food and Drug Administration;  does not absorb into the skin when applied with a lotion, sits on top of the skin and reflects both UVA and UVB light, therefore doesn’t irritate or cause allergic reactions
